You may be asking yourself the same questions I was; what are the major differences in natural sponges vs. synthetic sponges, and why should I use a natural sea sponge?
~They are much more durable and retain more water than a synthetic sponge. A sea wool sponge taken care of properly can last as long as 10 years and a yellow sponge as long as 4 years!
~Natural sea sponges actually have enzymes in them that inhibit the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria. (So no more green, 'yucky' moldy sponges! )
~There are no harmful chemicals in natural sea sponges. It is all natural and safe to use on all skin; young, old, sensitive, rough, and also safe to use for general cleaning around the house.
~And if you have very sensitive skin or are just looking for something very mild to wash your child, infant our yourself with, I think there is no better combo than an unscented goats milk soap bar molded in a natural sea wool sponge, one of the most softest sponges and highly recommended for bathing babies.
So for a chemical free bath and soft skin opt for natural sea sponge. Makr sure though, that it is ETHICALLY sourced from sustainable reefs.
Hey I recognize that photo, that from the Natural Bath and Body Shop ( www.naturalbathandbodyshop.com ). I shop there all the time, and they have a great selection of sea sponges and loofah there. I give Sea Sponges a huge +1.
ReplyDeleteYour page is refreshing after reading so many of the other sites. Your information is spot-on.
ReplyDeleteNatural sponges are 'green', abundant, and affordable.
It is important to note that use with bleach will either dissolve a natural sponge in front of your eyes, or weaken it so that it falls apart soon thereafter.
